Badly needed direction

I teach foodservice in a university. I would like to gain creditials behind my name in place of a PhD. that many of my colleques hold. There is not a PhD out there that appeals to me as much as being a chef. I am very new at this site and would appreciate any help I can get. Is there any way I can get credentialed w/o spwnding alot of time away from home and my job? Any suggestions?
